Enjoy the Best of history, culture, shopping, hiking, biking, golf and boating
The German Pietists who founded Zoar in 1817 adopted a seven-pointed star as their emblem while still in their Wuerttemberg homeland, and today this symbol is remembered in our logo and name – Zoar Gästehaus zum Stern – Zoar Star Guesthouse.
Located in the heart of Historic Zoar Village and just minutes from Ohio’s Amish County, Canton and the Pro Football Hall of Fame, the Ohio and Erie Canal Towpath Trail and Atwood Lake, Gästehaus zum Stern is your home base for visits to our beautiful and historic area.
Whether your interest is history and culture or shopping, hiking, bicycling, golf or boating, you will find all these amenities right in our ‘backyard’.
Our bedroom suite and our regular bedroom include their own private bathrooms as well as access to a shared full kitchen and are perfect for one person or a couple – or you can rent the entire guesthouse for two couples or a family of four.

Visit the Village
Zoar Village was founded in 1817 by a group of over 200 German Separatists seeking escape from religious persecution in their homeland. These Separatists thrived as a unique society for more than 80 years, making Zoar Village one of the most successful communal settlements in American history.
Today, Zoar Village is made up of approximately 75 families living in homes built from 1817 to the present. Historic Zoar Village tours include the museum buildings, early American architecture, and seasonal interpreters recreating life
as it was over 200 years ago. Or visit for the quaint village scenery, including the historic Zoar Garden, covering an acre and representing the Zoarites’ beliefs in God and the paths to everlasting life.
